Lutheran Church Offers Opportunities For Inspiration, Fellowship
Lutheran Church in the Foothills (LCIF) welcomes all to its Sunday morning service, which will reflect on themes of trust, grace and finding courage when life feels uncertain. The upcoming sermon will focus on the familiar story from Matthew 14:22–33 when Jesus walks on water to meet his disciples in the midst of a storm and reaches out to save a sinking Peter. Worship on Sunday, Aug. 9 begins at 10 a.m. Children’s Church is offered at the same time and includes a Bible lesson, games, snacks and a craft.
Beyond Sunday morning worship, LCIF also invites the community to gather for its next monthly “Prayer Breakfast,” scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 6 at 9 a.m. at the La Cañada McDonald’s. Grab a bite to eat at the counter and then head to the rear dining room for a time of food, fellowship and prayer. Organizers say the breakfast offers a relaxed, welcoming environment to meet new people, build friendships and feel a sense of community.
LCIF also thanks the community for contributing to its summer school supply drive. The church will be assembling school supply bags to be distributed worldwide to children in need. In addition, the church collected more than 60 brand new backpacks. They will will be delivered to “Making it Happen,” a Sunland-based non-profit organization that will distribute the backpacks directly to local families in need this fall. LCIF thanks everyone who donated to its annual collection drive.
For more information on all church events, or to receive pastoral care, visit lcifoothills.org, email office@lcifoothills.org, or call (818) 790-1951. The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd in La Cañada Flintridge. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
