Silent Movies Come to Two Strike Park

The Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley hosted Silent Movies in the Park on Saturday night, July 18, at Two Strike Park. The event was a trip to the past – not only because of the hand-cranked projector (provided by supporter Joe Rinaudo) and live musical accompaniment of the silent movie, but because of the overall feel of the event. People walked from the parking lot of the park to the park lawn carrying their chairs and blankets, ready to enjoy the movies, including Laurel and Hardy’s “Do Detectives Think?” made in 1927, Buster Keaton’s “One Week,” made in 1920, and Charley Chase’s “Crazy Like A Fox,” made in 1926. 

Folks came to the park with chairs and blankets, ready to enjoy a variety of silent movies.

A feeling of face-to-face community, which is unusual in today’s world of cellphone connections, was enjoyed by attendees.

Baked goods, provided by The Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley, were for sale and popcorn was available at Silent Movies in the Park.
