Stillwater at UUCVH
Science ambassador JD Stillwater returns to the pulpit at Unitarian Universalist Church of the Verdugo Hills – UUCVH– on June 14 for his sermon “Building A New Way–DIY.”
Stillwater is a science ambassador on a mission to promote science as an interfaith source of profound inspiration and cultural shift. After classroom teaching for 25 years, Stillwater shares his awe and wonder of nature with global audiences and the spiritual depth available from a science-based worldview. On June 14, Stillwater will describe lessons learned from his do-it-yourselfer father and grandfathers, and how those lessons might be applied to building a new way for our increasingly precarious global society. What kind of world do we want for our grandchildren, and for their grandchildren? Are we behaving accordingly? Building is not easy or comfortable – are we willing to do what it takes?
In person is at 10:30 a.m. at 4451 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta or visit the UUCVH website (https://www.uuverdugo.org/) for the Zoom link.

Walk and Word
Walk and Word participants will meet in the parking lot of Deukmejian Wilderness Park, 3429 Markridge Road in La Crescenta/Glendale at 8 a.m. on June 14, 21 & 28. Participants will walk for the first hour and then gather to read a selection of Scripture. About a half hour will be spent journaling about what was read and then there will be conversation, sharing thoughts.
Participants are asked to bring something to write with, anything wanted to eat or drink, and a chair to use for the writing part of the morning. Because people will be outdoors and social distancing will be practiced, masks will be optional.
Those with questions can email Jeanne at jnlavieri@earthlink.net.
All are welcome. If the hike is too strenuous, there are level paths at the park. There are ramps from the parking lot to the field where the group gathers.
