GLENDALE KIWANIS
The Kiwanis Club of Glendale meets on Fridays at noon. On April 17, it’s Hawaiian Day and Photo Day at the Club! All members are encouraged to wear Hawaiian-themed clothes. Also, Cristian Hamilton of the Autry Museum will be making a presentation.
The cost to attend Friday meetings, which includes lunch and program, is $25. All are welcome.
The Club meets Friday afternoons at the Elks Lodge, 120 E. Colorado St. in Glendale.
FREE ART SHOW IN GLENDALE
The Glendale Art Show is a free event serving as a multicultural platform where artists of diverse backgrounds and disciplines come together to present their work to the community. The program features a broad range of artistic practices, including visual arts (painting, drawing, photography and mixed media), sculpture and three-dimensional works, crafts and handmade art, live demonstrations, interactive art experiences, and interdisciplinary performances.
The Glendale Art Show is designed to support both emerging and established local and visiting artists by providing opportunities to exhibit, sell and discuss their work directly with collectors and the public. By fostering artist-audience interaction and cross-cultural exchange, the project strengthens Glendale’s creative ecosystem and contributes to the city’s cultural vitality and civic life.
The Glendale Art Show is on Sunday, April 19 from 10 a.m. -6 p.m.

RENAISSANCE PLEASURE FAIRE
The community is invited to step beyond the noise of the modern world and into a place where time loosens its grip and wonder takes the reins. This spring, the original Renaissance Pleasure Faire invites guests to trade ordinary weekends for an escape into a vibrant 16th century village. Through May 17, laughter, spectacle and a touch of mischief await beneath the banners. Located just 10 minutes east of Pasadena at the Santa Fe Dam
Recreation Area in Irwindale, the Renaissance Pleasure Faire welcomes all.
Tickets for The Renaissance Pleasure Faire are $53 for adults and $28 for children aged 5-12.
Children aged 4 and under are admitted at no charge.

DANCING AS EXERCISE
Dancing As Exercise is a free event sponsored by the Los Angeles County Park program for seniors (50 plus).
There will be live music from 10 a.m. to noon in the Park’s building at 3901 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta. Light refreshments and water are provided along with socialization and information about other park activities.
Dancing, per se, is not required; single persons are welcome.

KIWANIS HOSTING INAUGURAL WINE FEST
The Kiwanis Club of the Verdugos (KCOTV) announced its Verdugo Wine Fest, a premier community event scheduled for Saturday, April 18 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. It will be held at the Glendale Community College (GCC) J. Walter Smith Student Center & Terrace, 1500 N. Verdugo Road in Glendale. The festival offers guests a curated selection of wines from renowned regions paired with a variety of gourmet appetizers and vegan-friendly options.
Proceeds from the Verdugo Wine Fest will directly benefit the GCC Foster Youth Support Program (FYSP), providing essential resources for students transitioning from the foster care system into higher education.
General admission tickets are $100; on the day of the event, tickets are $115 and are subject to availability.
Tickets include wine tasting and food. As this event is expected to sell out, early purchase is recommended.

THE CALTECH JAZZ BAND PRESENTS THE ANNUAL JAZZ FESTIVAL
The Caltech Jazz Band, under the direction of Barb Catlin, presents the Annual Jazz Festival featuring three groups: the Caltech Jazz Band, the Joey Navarro Band and the Chris Wabich Trio. This outdoor concert will be held on Saturday, April 18 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the Hameetman Patio. The festival is outside with limited seating. Please bring a portable chair, blankets and picnic items. Parking is free.
The Caltech Jazz Band will open the festival with music by Thad Jones, Rob McConnell, Bob Mintzer and Caltech alum Dr. Les Deutsch.

CSC HOLDING ANNUAL ANGEL GALA
Cancer Support Community Greater San Gabriel Valley (CSC) will host its 36th Annual Angel Gala, themed “Where Hope Blooms,” on Saturday, April 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at The Langham Huntington Pasadena. The annual event brings together community leaders, healthcare partners, and supporters to raise critical funds for free programs serving individuals and families impacted by cancer. TASTING BEE COMING UP
The Girl Scouts of the Greater Los Angeles area/Crescenta Valley/Glendale Service Units are hosting the 40th annual international tasting bee on World Thinking Day, April 19. The event is being held at the Montrose Program Center, 2732 Montrose Ave. from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Girl Scout admission is $12; non Scout admission is $10, which includes 30 “tastes” of the international cuisine.

TACIT PRESENTS ‘THREE SISTERS’
Theater Arts at Caltech (TACIT), directed by Brian Brophy, presents this year’s full production of “Three Sisters.”
From the source material of Anton Chekhov’s classic 1901 play, this co-created adaptation to the target culture of California in the mid-1950s, serves as a fresh exploration between aspirations and reality, yearning for a better future, and the comic-tragic cost of inaction.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS PRESENTED AT CEREMONY
The Foothills Community Scholarship Foundation of La Cañada Flintridge is hosting its Annual Scholarship and Distinguished Persons Awards Ceremony on Sunday, April 26 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge, 4469 Chevy Chase Drive in La Cañada. The public is warmly invited and admission is free, with a reception held throughout the program.
Twelve graduating high school seniors will receive scholarships to further their educational goals. Wendy Sinnette will also be recognized as the Distinguished Educator of the Year and Mary Gant as the Distinguished Volunteer of the Year.

On Sunday, May 3, Los Altos’ Auxiliary is having its spring tasting event and annual fundraiser to support all of their work for the youth at Sycamores El Nido residential campus and the young adults in transition age youth programs. ACTIVITIES AT SUNLAND SENIOR CENTER
The Sunland Senior Center offers a selection of classes and activities daily. Whether seniors are looking to exercise or dance or are interested in art, theater, or knitting, the Center has something for everyone. Sunland also hosts bingo on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and a movie matinee on the big screen at 1 p.m. on Thursdays; on Mondays and Fridays there is country line dancing from noon-1:30 p.m. The Sunland Senior Center runs programming from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. with a donations-based lunch served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
