Connect Over Coffee, Conversation and Study Sponsored by LCIF
Lutheran Church in the Foothills (LCIF) invites the community to connect over coffee, conversation and study. The congregation’s February calendar kicks off with a casual morning gathering at the La Cañada McDonald’s on Thursday, Feb. 5. Starting at 9 a.m., the event offers a low-pressure environment for residents to meet, share a meal, and participate in a time of prayer. Grab your breakfast then head to the rear dining area for food,
fellowship and prayer. LCIF’s “Prayer Breakfasts” are held on the first Thursday of each month.
The church will also host its next session of the Women’s GATHER Bible Study on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Designed for those seeking deeper discussion and community, the group will meet at 1 p.m. in the church conference room. Organizers note that the Bible study is open to all women in the area and, like the breakfast gathering, does not require advance registration.
The church will celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend with a concert on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. in the LCIF sanctuary. The community is invited to enjoy an evening of music, performed by LCIF’s pianist Katherine Franstsen. Refreshments and fellowship will follow the concert.
In addition, all are invited to LCIF’s weekly 10 a.m. Sunday worship services led by Pastor Viv Vega. Children’s Church is offered at the same time and includes crafts, games and Bible study.
The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. Office hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

The program will feature music, poetry readings, visual art and a curated church history gallery with photographs, archival materials and stories tracing the congregation’s journey across 12 decades.
Open to the public, the anniversary weekend invites longtime members, new friends and the wider Glendale community to gather in celebration of a living legacy that continues to shape the city.

Walk and Word
Walk and Word participants will meet in the parking lot of Deukmejian Wilderness Park, 3429 Markridge Road in La Crescenta/Glendale at 8 a.m. on Feb. 8, 15 & 22. Participants will walk for the first hour and then gather to read a selection of Scripture. About a half hour will be spent journaling about what was read and then there will be conversation, sharing thoughts.
Participants are asked to bring something to write with, anything wanted to eat or drink, and a chair to use for the writing part of the morning. Because people will be outdoors and social distancing will be practiced, masks will be optional.
Those with questions can email Jeanne at jnlavieri@earthlink.net.
All are welcome. If the hike is too strenuous, there are level paths at the park. There are ramps from the parking lot to the field where the group gathers after the hike.
