CALTECH SCHOLAR TO ADDRESS PARTISANSHIP AT DEMOCRATIC CLUB MEETING
Partisan polarization might feel like a new problem, but many aspects are intertwined with long-standing identity conflicts that have been a defining feature of American politics.
The public is welcome to join the Cañada Crescenta Democratic Club on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 2:30 p.m. when Caltech Linde Center for Science, Society and Policy researcher Dr. Raquel Centeno leads a discussion about partisanship, perceptions of political conflict and attitudes about democracy. Dr. Centeno has studied how voters think and feel about political parties, how electoral institutions influence the political behavior of voters and how racial and ethnic identity affect elections. Her research on political psychology will provide a context for the polarization experienced these days.
The Nov. 16 meeting will be held in the La Crescenta Public Library second floor community room, 2809 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta from 2:30-4:30 p.m.
For more information and to submit your questions in advance, please contact canadacrescentadems@gmail.com or Anne Tryba (annetryba1@gmail.com).
