CVCA to Meet Tonight, Thursday

The Crescenta Valley Community Association will have its monthly meeting tonight,  Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. via Zoom. The meeting agenda includes updates to the Zone 0 plan and local housing development projects such as 4521 Briggs Ave., 3427 Foothill Blvd. and 600 Foothill, as well as an opportunity for Foothill area residents to bring their own concerns. Contact the CVCA at crescentavalleycommunityassn@gmail.com with questions and for Zoom meeting information.

Book Sale at Library

The Friends of La Crescenta Library will be holding its annual book sale in the meeting room at the La Crescenta Library. Good homes are sought for about 10,000 pre-read books at next to nothing prices. A “members only” presale takes place on Friday, Oct. 24 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the public is invited on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Find a great deal and support the library at the same time.

Who’s In My Backyard? Hosted by AFC

On Sunday, Oct. 25 from 9 – 10:30 a.m. the Arroyos Foothills Conservancy (AFC) is hosting Who’s in My Backyard?, an exploration of local wildlife.

AFC’s Urban Wildlife Research Leader Ruby Siehl is holding a class on backyard camera-traps. Siehl will demonstrate setting up and using a camera-trap, different brands and models, and what can be learned from studying and photographing the wildlife that make their way through local yards and urban areas.

CVTC Holds General Election

The election for new council members will be held at Sadler Hall on the campus of St. Luke’s of the Mountains, 2563 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta on Friday, Nov. 7 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Free Breakfast for Veterans

All veterans are invited to a free full breakfast celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. The breakfast takes place on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Verdugo Hills Memorial Hall, 4011 La Crescenta Ave. (halfway between Montrose and Honolulu avenues).

Breakfast is between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. – ready whenever folks arrive. The menu includes eggs, sausages, hash browns, pancakes, coffee and orange juice. 

Whether service was for the Marines or another branch, come join fellow veterans and community members in honoring this historic milestone.

Montrose-Glendale Christmas Parade Apps Now Available

Applications for the Montrose-Glendale Christmas Parade are now available on the Christmas parade website https://montrosechristmasparade.com. Those interested should click on the “Entry Forms” link at the top of the home page. The Scout application is coming soon. The theme this year is “The Christmas Time Machine.”
