On Sept. 27, members from the La Crescenta Woman’s Club (LCWC) braved the drizzly morning to participate in the International Day of Service, sponsored by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC). The goal of the day was to help end domestic and sexual violence across the United States and internationally. LCWC participated in this event by gathering donations of supplies needed by pregnant women and their babies who have fled domestic violence situations and are currently living at the Elizabeth House shelter in the San Gabriel Valley.
LCWC worked with Elizabeth House to get the most needed items for the families such as baby shampoo, lotion, wipes and, most importantly, hundreds of diapers! These donated items were valued at over $660! LCWC also collected $340 in gift cards for stores such as Target and Ralphs.
LCWC has two members who regularly volunteer at the shelter. Because of the private nature of the shelter, donations were assembled off-site and an LCWC Elizabeth House volunteer delivered the donations.
