Norma Ann (Arntzen) Reger

Feb. 17, 1933-Aug. 29, 2025

Norma Ann (Arntzen) Reger, 92, peacefully went home to the Lord on Aug. 29 in Reno, Nevada. She was born in Oakland, California on Feb. 17, 1933 to Norman and Margaret Arntzen. She graduated from Glendale High School in 1951 and attended UCLA for her first years of college. She transferred to USC where she received her BS in nursing in 1956 and at USC she met her husband Bourke. They were married on April 27, 1957.

Norma and Bourke lived in Tujunga from 1959 to 1992. Family was everything to Norma. She was active at St. James church and school where their four children attended. She served as room mother, participated in the Mother’s Club and served lunch on “Hot Dog Day.” Norma also volunteered at the St. Francis High School library where her two sons attended and finished her work life at Glendale Community College.

She and Bourke retired in 1992 and moved to Reno, Nevada. They traveled in the U.S. and Europe and enjoyed visits to friends and family in England, Spain and Southern California. In her later years, she enjoyed the comforts of home – reading, and watching USC, UCLA and Nevada football and the LA Dodgers.

Norma was often teased about her “split personality” having attended both UCLA and USC. When asked who she wanted to win when they played each other, she would say, “May the better team win.” But all believed she secretly wanted UCLA to prevail!

Norma is survived by her husband of 68 years Bourke; sons Stephen and Paul (Kathy); daughters Kathleen (Bill) and Marianne (Pedro); brother Jack (Rosie); nephew Michael (Michele); niece Lori; grandnephew Evan; and grandniece Leila. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandniece Olivia.

Services and burial will be held today, Sept. 11 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery in Reno, Nevada. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation in Norma’s memory be made to St. Jude or your favorite charity.
