Founded in 1951, Altadena Guild of Huntington Memorial Hospital, a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, has been actively supporting financially and through volunteerism Huntington Health (HH) and Huntington Medical Research Institutes (HMRI) both located in Pasadena.
Funds are traditionally raised through the popular Altadena Guild Home Tour, which has been held annually with the exception of the years 2020 and 2021, due to the COVID pandemic. However, last year’s Guild’s Home Tour on May 1 was a huge success, raising a record number of funds to benefit Huntington Health and HMRI.
This year’s Guild’s 70th Home Tour, themed “Rubio Street!! The Gem of Altadena,” is planned for Sunday, May 7 on Rubio Street in Altadena, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Four homes and gardens will be open for viewing. Each features different architectural styles from Craftsman to Colonial Revival to Modern, built from 1909, 1911 to 1951, on a street that was originally named Sans Souci until its name was changed to Rubio Street in 1931!
Live music will be performed indoors and outdoors, talented and skilled vendors and antique cars will be lining up the street while the café, located in a garden draped with deodars and oaks, will provide the necessary repost during the day.
As Altadena Guild of HMH was founded 72 years ago by dedicated women, with the mission to help fund and promote the objectives of the Huntington Health and the Huntington Medical Research Institutes, HMRI, the Guild extends its appreciation and gratitude to both the homeowners who offered their homes to the public for viewing for over 70 years and to the community that has been supporting this mission.
