Members of La Cañada Flintridge Orthopaedic Guild (LCFOG) have curtailed many activities since COVID-19 entered their lives. The volunteer group is well-known for book and author luncheons and raising funds to support Orthopaedic Institute for Children (OIC). Prior to the onset of COVID-19, members of the Guild volunteered at OIC in Los Angeles at the welcome desk and numerous other areas. COVID-19 has caused the book and author luncheon to be put on hold for two years. In its absence the group continues to raise funds in other ways.

Under the direction of President Marianne Jennings, the philanthropic group continues to meet monthly but instead of meeting at member’s homes they stay in their own homes and meet online in Zoom sessions. It has been a good way to safely connect with each other and discuss new fundraising ideas.  

At a recent meeting, DeeDee Nuanes, Ways and Means co-chair, discussed plans for a “take out meal” at Chipotle Mexican Grill on Wednesday, May 12 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. only. Chipotle is located at 895 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada. LCFOG will receive 33% of the proceeds of meals ordered using the fundraiser code. This will be donated to OIC, where doctors help children grow well and play well. Children are treated at OIC for any orthopaedic condition, including surgery, regardless of ability to pay.

Orders may be made in person with paper or digital flyer shown to cashier when paying; online on the website using fundraiser code DQ3HCGP for pickup at the store; or inside the store and order then show a copy of flyer, either paper or from a phone.
