CVTC Meets Tonight
The monthly general meeting of the Crescenta Valley Town Council is tonight, Thursday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in the community room of the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd.
On the agenda is a presentation by Steve Goldsworthy, commissioner with Los Angeles County Vector Control.

Wildlife Tracking and Photography Tour with Johanna Turner
Join wildlife photographer and tracker Johanna Turner on Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. as she explains why wildlife comes into local yards and how to spot their tracks. Due to the intimate nature of this tour – looking for animal tracks along the trail – the tour is limited to 15. For those who would like to attend, please RSVP to RosemontFriends@gmail.com.

The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave., La Crescenta. Those with mobility issues that require a closer parking spot can contact RosemontFriends@gmail.com.
Participants should wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail.
Celebrate Montrose
The Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley celebrates the history of Montrose on the 107th anniversary of its founding. At the Sunday, Feb. 23 Harvest Market, the Society will have a booth that will feature old photos of the area and local memorabilia. The old G&M Railway Trolley bell will be available to “ring in” the celebration.
All are invited to stop by between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
New Voting System Presented
CV Weekly, State Senator Anthony Portantino, Assemblymember Laura Friedman and LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger are presenting an information meeting about the new voting system on Monday night, Feb. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Sadler Hall at St. Luke’s of the Mountains, 2563 Foothill Blvd. Attendees will have a chance to test out the machines and ask questions of representatives from the LA County Registrar’s office.
All are encouraged to attend.
Arbor Day 2020
Arbor Day 2020 is being celebrated at Casa Adobe de San Rafael Park, 1330 Dorothy Drive in Glendale on Tuesday, March 3 at 10 a.m. If it rains, festivities move to the Glendale Civic Auditorium, lower level, 1401 N. Verdugo Road. All are invited to purchase a tree for Arbor Day! After the last few years of intense drought and tree loss, contributions are more important than ever. Twenty-four inch box size trees are available for $150. There is also the option of supporting trees throughout the city for a suggested donation of $75. Contributions will be used to help reforest and care for all trees in local parks and public areas. Donations of any amount will be much appreciated and publicly acknowledged at Arbor Day.

Dangers of Vaping Discussed
Learn the medical risks of vaping by pulmonologist Dr. Shant Shirvanian at a meeting on Feb. 25 at the offices of the Glendale Unified School District. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Dr. Shirvanian practices full-time critical care in the ICU at Adventist Health-Glendale.

Learning About Birds of Prey
On Friday, Feb. 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the Friday Night Lecture at Brand Studios will be “Birds of Prey.” Information on raptors, owls, kestrels and hawks will be presented by lecturer Jane Gao, wildlife biologist. This event is free but there is limited seating. RSVP by calling (818) 548-3795.
This program is recommended for ages 14 and older. It is presented by the Trails and Open Space program and will be held at Brand Park, 1601 Mountain St. in Glendale.
CVCA to Meet at Twelve Oaks
The Crescenta Valley Community Association will have its monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. The CVCA is a cross-jurisdictional, volunteer organization that encourages collaboration between community groups so that the Crescenta Valley can be represented with one voice. Due to voting at the library, this month’s meeting will be in the dining room at Twelve Oaks Senior Living, 2820 Sycamore Ave. in La Crescenta.

Meeting Planned for CVHS Athletic Field Improvement
A meeting will be held at the Crescenta Valley High School auditorium on March 5 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to discuss the environmental impact report on the proposed installation of stands and lights for the school field. The public is encouraged to attend to voice support and opposition of the project.
The auditorium is located in the 4300 block of Ramsdell Avenue in La Crescenta.
