Oct. 13

3000 block of  Alabama Street in La Crescenta, a laptop computer and modem were stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight.

4800 block of Angeles Crest Highway in La Cañada, a 37-year-old La Cañada woman was arrested for posession of a controlled substance resembling methamphetamine after a routine traffic stop. The woman had several traffic warrants in her name. After an investigation drug paraphernalia and a small plastic bag containing a substance resembling methamphetamine was found in the vehicle.

The woman was arrested at 4:53 p.m.

Oct. 8

4600 Marellen Place in La Crescenta, a canvas bag with prescription medication, currency and a make-up bag were stolen from a vehicle overnight.

Oct. 6

2600 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a 29-year-old La Crescenta man was arrested for embezzlement. According to the LASD report, deputies were contacted by a U-Haul business concerning a stolen vehicle. The U-Haul employee told deputies that he had rented the U-Haul pickup truck to the La Crescenta man on Aug. 4. The man was to keep the rental for five days; however, the man never returned the vehicle. Employees of U-Haul made several attempts to contact the man via telephone. They notated each conversation. Because the man did not bring back the truck, a stolen/embezzled report was made regarding the vehicle.

Deputies went to the man’s home in La Crescenta. They discovered the pickup truck in an open garage in the gated complex. A man, the suspect, stepped out of the open garage and asked what the deputies needed. They told him why they were there and he immediately walked away, went into the garage and shut the door. Deputies were able to get into the complex and were able to confirm the pickup truck in the garage matched the one that was reported stolen. The truck, according to the report, had major paint damage due to a majority of the U-Haul stickers having been removed apparently by sanding or tearing them off the vehicle.

Deputies were able to detain the man and get the keys to the pickup truck at 5 p.m.

Oct. 5

2600 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a 45-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance, receiving stolen property and shoplifting. Deputies responded to a call concerning a theft from a business. They noticed the suspect and after an investigation revealed the man was in possession of the items reported stolen between 2:44 p.m. and 3:13 p.m.

Oct. 4

4400 block of La Crescenta Avenue in La Crescenta, the “in-ear monitors” were stolen from a church sometime between Sept. 29 and Oct. 4.

Oct. 2

500 block of Paulette Place in La Cañada, deputies responded to a home concerning an attempted burglary. When they arrived they spoke to an informant who reported she was in the residence when she decided to move her vehicle from where it was parked on the street to the driveway. When she exited the home she noticed a 1990s silver or gold Saturn or Honda parked along the curb directly in front of the residence. She reported seeing a woman in her 20s sitting in the driver’s seat of the parked vehicle.

The informant then drove her vehicle into the driveway and noticed two tall men wearing dark hoodies and black pants run from the east side of the garage, past her vehicle and entered the 1990s Honda/Saturn vehicle. The vehicle then left the area at a high rate of speed. There was no evidence of forced entry into the home and nothing was missing.

The incident occurred at 11:15 p.m.

3900 block of Ocean View Boulevard in Montrose, an employee of  a business reported that a man, described as being in his 30s, 5’7″ to 5’10″ tall,  and weighing 145 to 170 pounds, defecated in a mop bucket that was in the exterior of the office building. The employee said a similar incident had occurred a few months prior.

The recent incident occurred at 5:25 a.m.

3000 block of Highridge Road in La Crescenta, a car cover was stolen off a vehicle parked in a driveway between 7:15 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Oct. 1

2800 block of Altura Avenue in La Crescenta, deputies responded to a call concerning a burglary. They discovered that before the resident left for work she locked all doors and windows except for a kitchen window. When she returned home she was contacted by her neighbor who said her dog had been roaming around outside. She entered her home and noticed an open window and the screen had been slashed. Her entire home had been ransacked. Jewelry, a purse and cash stolen between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Sept. 29

2700 block of Altura Avenue in La Crescenta, the third seat of a vehicle, a cellphone, laptop computer, leather jacket, global positioning system and cash were stolen from a vehicle that was parked on the street at the location the night before. When the owner returned to his vehicle the next morning he discovered the doors to his car unlocked, the interior was ransacked. There did not appear to be any type of forced entry into the vehicle.

The incident occurred overnight.
