Glendale Area Schools Federal Credit Union, part of, is benefiting from Arianna Huffington’s “Move Your Money” campaign that advocates consumers taking their business out of big banks.

“As consumers become more and more disenchanted with big banks, Glendale Area Schools Federal Credit Union is proud to be a financial institution they can turn to for excellent rates and superior service,” said CEO Stuart Perlitsh. “The positive recognition of credit unions generated by the Huffington Post campaign is a welcome testament to the good work credit unions are doing as member-focused institutions.”

Perlitsh noted that the credit union has a 5-Star Superior rating, something that fewer than 10% of the nation’s credit unions can boast. The rating reflects an epitome of safety and soundness recognizing exceptional strength.

On Dec. 29 Huffington launched the campaign, urging consumers to bank at local financial institutions instead of big banks. Since then credit unions have been touted on media outlets such as ABC Nightly News and the American Banker, as well as several blogs.

Credit unions are not-for-profit, member-owned cooperatives that traditionally offers better rates on savings accounts and loans, lower fees and higher levels of service.
