On Friday, April 29 Arcadia hosted the Pacific League prelims. Strong performances were seen for all ranking divisions.
Qualifiers will now return to Arcadia Friday for the Pacific League finals when field events start at 5 p.m. and running events at 6 p.m. For the CV varsity boys, James Maturan (11.25) (23.47) and Parker Averill (11.27) (23.05) both qualified for the 100m and 200m dashes.
Glendale sophomore Michael Davis had the fastest time of the day in both races running (10.89) (22.14). Falcon Michael Duncan qualified with the fastest time in the 800m (2:00.10) and placed in the 1600m (4:35.11) along with teammate Bob Anderson (4:34.14). CV also qualified three runners in the 110 hurdles: Josh Strachewski had the fastest time of the day (15.50), followed by Nick Ruiz (16.87) and Cody Heydenreich (17.86). William Corey moves on in the 300 hurdles (45.02).
CV star sprinter senior Jessica Beerman did what she does best and ran away from the other qualifying runners in her heat in the 100m (12:58) and 200m dashes (26:18), grabbing the fastest time of the day for both races.     Tiernan Hebron won her heat in the 400m (1:01.23) and had the third fastest time of the day. Teammate freshman Kayleigh Carrillo qualified in the 400m (1:00.80) with the fifth fastest time as well as qualifying in the 200m (27:43) with the sixth fastest time.

The Falcons had three participants qualify in the 1600m and the 300m Hurdles: Cali King had the second fastest qualifying time in the 1600m (5:23.18) behind Burbank’s McKenzie Paul (5:16.66). Anneke Kakebeen despite a foot injury had the fourth fastest time of the day (5:28.75). Claudia Pham ran a solid 5:32.57. Junior Brooke Moultrie (5:52.61), who nursed an injury early in the season, placed ninth to end her running for this year.
In the 300 hurdles, CV junior Claudia Sepulveda had the second fastest time (48.99) behind Glendale Sophia Amodia running (46.32) to top her personal best this season.
Falcon teammate Kakebeen also qualified running the fifth fastest time of the day 50.35 with Sophia Vines (51.79) seating seventh.
In the 800m and the 100 hurdles the Falcons qualified runners sophomore Cali King (2:22.89), senior Diane Lombardi, (2:24.01) and freshman Hannah Ruby (2:28.04). Junior Claudia Sepulveda had the second fastest qualifying time (16:84), Laura White ran 17:64, seated fifth and senior Eileen Martin seated sixth (18:29). Savannah Rhoads ran 18.41, seated ninth.
