LCPC Presents ‘A World of Joy’

Christmas is a joyous time for music and singing. La Cañada Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir and LCPC Orchestra have assembled a concert that has it all: music, videos and stories for everyone performed by a cast of over 120 musicians. 

“A World of Joy” will be presented on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m.

There is no cost for admission (freewill offering accepted).

This concert features the great carols of Christmas to excerpts from the John Williams music of the “Home Alone” movies, accompanied by video excerpts from the films, to a “Home for the Holidays” that goes to Grandma’s house, celebrates the day after Christmas and includes Linus and Charlie Brown retelling the Christmas story. There will be a drumline complete with lighted drumsticks and times to sing along to favorite carols with the choir and full orchestra. The choir and orchestra will present “A World of Joy” singing “Joy to the World” in Swahili, Spanish, Celtic and English. It is multimedia event featuring movie excerpts, video clips and pictures of favorite Christmas images.

The concert will be held in the LCPC sanctuary at 626 Foothill Blvd. The adjacent Worship Arts Center will be set up for children with a live broadcast of the concert plus activities and food, including hot chocolate and cookies.

The program includes familiar favorites “Silent Night,” “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” “God Rest You Merry Gentlemen,” “I Saw Three Ships,” “Still, Still, Still,” and “Joy to the World,” among many other familiar carols and songs of Christmas.

Prior to the concert at 1:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary, LCPC’s director of Music & Worship Arts, Jack Lantz, will present a lecture entitled “How the

Boomers Stole Christmas.”
