On June 9 at 10:30 a.m., two young men who recently returned from two years of missionary service will be giving talks about their experiences at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4550 Raymond Ave. in La Crescenta.
Minor Wetzel is returning from service in Taiwan. He is the son of Mick and Stacy Wetzel, longtime residents of La Cañada. Minor graduated from La Cañada High School. He was principal cello of the LCHS orchestra and also played varsity basketball. Wetzel was a midshipman at the United States Naval Academy for two years. He resigned his appointment to the Academy to serve in Taiwan. After reapplication to USNA, he was readmitted and will re-join the brigade of midshipmen on June 21.
Jeffrey Malmrose was called to the Baltic Mission, Latvian Region, speaking Latvian. During his two-year service, he spent time in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Malmrose graduated from Crescenta Valley High School where he was involved in water polo, swim and Charismatics Chamber Choir. He is the son of Kirk and Audrey Malmrose of La Crescenta. He plans to return in the fall to Brigham Young University, where he is majoring in chemical engineering.
