King Re-enactor to perform at Unitarian Universalist Church
On Sunday, Feb. 12 performer Gerald C. Rivers will present his rendition of the words of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the 10:30 a.m. service of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Verdugo Hills (UUCVH). UUCVH is pleased to host Rivers in celebration of Black History Month in the Crescenta Valley. The event is free and open to the public.
For over three decades Gerald Rivers has enacted the speeches of the late Dr. King. He realized his gift for bringing Dr. King’s words to life in his teens and has dedicated himself to keeping alive the spirit and inspiration of King through his awe-inspiring renditions. Rivers, who grew up in Compton, has gained national recognition as a multi-talented actor, voiceover artist and inspirational speaker. He is in demand for presentations at schools, workplaces, religious organizations, colleges and community organizations have taken him throughout the U.S. and internationally. Rivers’ also teaches West African Djembe Hand Drumming in La Crescenta as well as home school music to special needs students in La Cañada.
There will be an opportunity to meet Rivers after the service.

Showing of ‘War Room’  
On Sunday, Feb. 26 Bethel Church in Sun Valley will offer a showing of the film “War Room” (rated PG).
An apparently perfect marriage is actually in shambles. After seeking counsel from a wise older woman, the wife realizes it will take a deep commitment to prayer to keep her world from crumbling.
The video presentation starts at 5:30 p.m. A potluck supper precedes the movie at 5 p.m. Free.

LCIF Continues Overview of First Corinthians
The community is invited to join Lutheran Church in the Foothills at its 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Feb. 5. Pastor Scott Peterson will continue a series of sermons from First Corinthians with this Sunday’s sermon titled “Believe.”
Nursery care is provided during the service for infants through toddlers and Children’s Church is available for children through sixth grade.

Laughter is Free Medicine (No joke!)
On Feb. 1 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Sebastian Gendry, international expert in wellness and wellbeing, will talk and share about laughter wellness.
His presentation takes place at the Center for Spiritual Living-La Crescenta. Love donation will be collected.
