A woman was arrested Tuesday morning about 6 a.m. by Los Angeles Police Dept. at the DIY Home Center in Tujunga after ramming her vehicle into the front door of the building then entering the store.

DIY Home Center, located in the 6300 block of Foothill Boulevard, was not open for business at the time of the burglary.

The female suspect hit the door of the business with her car knocking the whole door down, said Capt. Johnny Smith, LAPD Foothill division.

Karen Baron, DIY Home Center’s operation manager, received the alarm activation call about 5 a.m. on Tuesday. She went to the store and saw a white vehicle near the front door of the building. She called LAPD 9-1-1, reported the burglary in progress and was able to get the vehicle’s license plate information. She then parked in the parking lot and waited for LAPD to arrive.

“[The suspect] came out of the store and just stood next to the car,” Baron said.

The suspect didn’t seem to be in any hurry or to leave; she just stood around for a while and then went back into the store, Baron added.

“LAPD got here really fast and officers went into the store,” she said.

By this time another store manager arrived at the location. She was able to access the store cameras and saw that the suspect was hiding in the manager’s office. She had apparently pulled one of the desks to block the door; however, officers were able to find her and take her into custody without incident.

DIY Home Center employees quickly repaired the front doors, which were lying on the ground inside the store, and they were open for business as usual.
