Five Arrests Made for Vehicle Theft

On Nov. 16 just after midnight, officers assigned to Glendale PD’s Patrol Bureau located a stolen vehicle traveling on the 600 block of North Central Avenue. Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop and spoke to the driver, 39-year-old Jack Julfayan of Glendale. Julfayan was subsequently arrested and booked for vehicle theft.

On Nov. 13 just after 2 p.m., an officer assigned to Glendale PD’s Patrol Bureau located a stolen vehicle parked near the intersection of Chevy Chase and Harvey drives. Assisting officers arrived and the vehicle was running with a male, later identified as 51-year-old Raymee Smith (transient), inside. Smith was arrested and booked for vehicle theft.

On Nov. 1 just after 1 a.m., an officer assigned to Glendale PD’s Patrol Bureau was traveling along the 900 block of East Colorado Street when s/he noticed a vehicle make an illegal right turn into a parking lot with no rear license plate. The officer initiated a traffic stop and contacted the driver, 21-year-old Raymundo Lizarraga of Los Angeles. Assisting officers arrived and, utilizing departmental resources, officers learned the vehicle had been reported stolen just a few days prior. Lizarraga was subsequently arrested for vehicle theft.

On Oct. 30 at approximately 1:30 p.m., an officer assigned to Glendale PD’s Patrol Bureau located a stolen vehicle traveling near the intersection of Glenoaks Boulevard and Pacific Avenue. Assisting officers arrived and initiated a high-risk traffic stop. Officers contacted the driver, 29-year-old Mordean Holmes of Los Angeles, and passenger, 29-year-old Matthew Bell of Los Angeles. A vehicle search produced a glass pipe with a bulbous end and methamphetamine residue, access cards, mail and other personal identifying information belonging to other individuals, and an arrow key. During the investigation, officers learned that Bell was on active parole. Holmes was arrested for vehicle theft and grand theft. Bell was arrested and booked for vehicle theft and a violation of his parole.

 

Stolen Vehicle and Ghost Gun Found – Two Arrested

On Nov. 16 at approximately 8:30 p.m., an officer assigned to Glendale PD’s Patrol Bureau located a stolen vehicle in a motel parking lot on the 1500 block of East Colorado Street.

Assisting units arrived and officers learned what room in the motel the vehicle was associated. The officers attempted a door knock on the room and a phone call, but ultimately had to use the vehicle’s PA system in order to get the occupants of the room to exit. After two announcements, 22-year-old Stephanie Garcia of Los Angeles exited the room and, after a third announcement, 30-year-old Luis Hernandez (transient) exited.

A search of the room produced a ghost gun and a magazine inside of a ripped mattress, three methamphetamine pipes, a baggie containing methamphetamine and a coin purse containing a large denomination of cash and an identification card, Social Security card, and access card belonging to another individual.

Throughout the investigation, officers learned that Hernandez is a convicted felon on active probation and had a non-local no-bail warrant out for his arrest.

Ultimately, Hernandez was arrested and booked for being an ex-felon with a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon, possessing ammunition when prohibited, possessing a controlled substance while armed, vehicle theft, identity theft and his outstanding warrant. Garcia was arrested and booked for possessing unlawful paraphernalia.
