Two Stabbed in Glendale

Glendale police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred at the city’s courthouse at 600 E. Broadway early Monday morning.

“We have a lot of unanswered questions,” said Sgt. Robert William.
The incident began at about 2 a.m. in front of the Glendale Police Dept. at 131 N. Isabel, about a half a block from the courthouse.

“An individual (a man) came to the [GPD] call box in front of our station,” William said. “He said he had been stabbed.”

The police responded and found the man had been stabbed and immediately transported him to the hospital. The officers’ first concern was the victim in front of their station.

“Officers found a trail of blood that [was traced] across the street to [in front] of the courthouse,” Willam said. “They found another victim there with stab wounds.”

Preliminarily, the investigation has identified Minas Arutyunyan, 30, of Sunland as a victim of an unprovoked attack by the suspect, Alex Littlejohn, 57 of Glendale. Arutyunyan was stabbed multiple times but was able to fight back his attacker. Littlejohn died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Arutyunyan was transported to the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.  He underwent surgery and was recovering.  On the evening of Sept. 29, Arutyunyan died while recovering at the hospital.  The cause of his death is unknown and is under investigation by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Detectives have determined that no other suspects are at large.  The investigation is ongoing to determine the events that led up to the altercation between the two males.
