There have been rumors that Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich was thinking about running for State Senate—those rumors appear to be true.

According to the California Secretary of State website, Anotonovich (R) has filed to run for the State Senate District 25.

He will be vying for the seat now held by Senate Carol Liu (D) who will be termed out this coming election. Antonovich is heading into a hotly contested election, with former Assemblymember Anthony Portantino(D) and present Assemblymember Mike Gatto (D) also vying for the Senate District 25 seat.

Antonovich works closely with Crescenta Valley Town Council and is well known in the Crescenta Valley area.

He served in the California State Assembly from 1972 to 1978. In 1980 he was elected to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors representing the Fifth District.  This is his last term as Supervisor due to a 2002 voter approved term limit initiative.
