Information Released on Power Outage
A power outage that affected parts of Glendale on Wednesday, July 24 initially affected about 80% of GWP customers, according to Eliza Papazian, community relations coordinator with the city. A large portion of the city’s electricity was reinstated within an hour but the second outage, which affected about 11,000 customers, lasted until about 7:30 p.m.
The cause was the failure of a transformer at the Rossmoyne substation, which generally fails due to high temperatures, she said.
