Hundreds of people lined Foothill Boulevard on Monday morning for the Sunland-Tujunga/Shadow Hills Rotary Club fourth of July parade. Dignitaries, including Rep. Adam Schiff and State Senator Anthony Portantino, were among those who made their way down Foothill Boulevard, cheered on by local residents – many who dressed in holiday garb.
Later that afternoon, the gates at Crescenta Valley High School were open to an estimated 4,000 people eager to enjoy all that the CV Fireworks Association offered on the field of the high school. Children jumped on a variety of inflatables, the popular Mary Dyer Band entertained, food trucks kept everyone full and State Senator Anthony Portantino emceed the event, which culminated with a fireworks extravaganza.
“We’re so grateful to the ton of volunteers who came to setup and breakdown this event,” said CV Fireworks Association president Mike Shaar. “It was one of the best displays we’ve ever had.”
Rep. Adam Schiff agreed, saying that he, too, thought it was an outstanding show.
Portantino, who has emceed the event several times over the last few years, was glad to be there.
“I love coming to this community event,” he said. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to see everyone. I’m glad to be part of it.”
