13 Kilograms of Cocaine Located in Car Trunk

On June 10, Glendale officers conducted an investigative stop on York Boulevard in Los Angeles. Officers contacted the driver, later identified as 40-year-old Nelson Rodriguez of Bloomington.

Rodriguez was unable to provide a driver’s license and claimed he had lost it. A consent search of the vehicle revealed a black duffel bag in the trunk containing 13 kilograms of cocaine with a street value of approximately $325,000. A Mexican passport in Rodriguez’s name was located in the glove box containing $1,400 in cash.

Rodriguez was placed under arrest and booked for possession of drugs for sale and transportation of a controlled substance.

Further investigation by Glendale detectives led investigators to believe these narcotics are tied to an organization operating between Southern California and central United States.

The case remains under investigation by Glendale detectives.
