GWP’s Proposed Electric Rates
Community Meeting Information
Glendale Water & Power is proposing an electric rate increase phased in over five years. The approximate system average increase proposed begins at 8% for fiscal year 2014 and ends with an average increase proposed of 2% for fiscal year 2018. GWP is planning on taking the proposal and Cost of Service Analysis to Glendale City Council in August 2013.

Over the next few weeks, GWP will be in the community engaging customers through a series of interactive public meetings. A meeting was held last night, Wednesday, at Dunsmore Community Center in Dunsmore Park. Another meeting is being held tonight, Thursday, June 6 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
at the Sparr Heights Community Center at 1613 Glencoe Way, (north) Glendale. Additional meetings are being held throughout Glendale.

Share The Risk – Share The Rewards
Volunteers are needed for the Fourth Annual Briggs Terrace Work Day and Block Party on Saturday, June 7 from 7 a.m. to noon. The event is sponsored by the Crescenta Valley Fire Safe Council, the Upper Canyonside Community Assn. and Briggs Terrace Community Partners.

It is a way for neighbors to help neighbors. Residents join together to clear brush from hillsides and near homes while identifying neighbors in need that require assistance in completing the brush clearance.

There will be a potluck block party later from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Phyllis Street in Briggs Terrace. For information, email Judy Turner at briggsproject@gmail.com.

Glendale Chamber Presents Gala
The Glendale Chamber of Commerce presents a Masquerade Gala on Friday, June 7 at The Plaza at 801 in Glendale. The event begins with a reception and silent auction at 6 p.m.; dinner, dancing, entertainment and program is at 7 p.m. Tickets begin at $125 for individuals.
