Harvest Market to Reopen
The Montrose Shopping Park Association will be reopening Harvest Market on Sunday, May 17. There will only be vendors who sell fresh vegetables and fruits and prepackaged food available for purchase. The hours are limited to 8 a.m. to noon.
Everyone who enters the Harvest Market area will be required to wear a face covering and must observe social distancing. Those who are running a fever or feel ill are advised to stay home.
Representatives Co-host Town Hall
As California begins to slowly phase into re-opening the economy while also keeping a watchful eye on the number of new COVID-19 infections, Rep. Adam Schiff and Asm. Laura Friedman will be co-hosting a conversation with policy experts to discuss the long road to a full economic recovery.

Trails and Open Space Programs Canceled Through June
Trails and open spaces in the City of Glendale are now open. Users are asked to adhere to these guidelines: Practice social distancing by keeping six feet apart; wear a face mask when passing others, stopping on the trail or entering the trail; do not gather in groups – hike with members of your household only; communicate with others as you pass them, alert them to your presence and step aside to let others pass; pack out your trash and use leave-no-trace principles to protect park staff and wildlife.

Local Church is Drop Off Center
Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church is accepting donations of non-perishable, non-expired goods for the Bailey Center in Tujunga. Donations can be accepted every other Saturday for as long as necessary beginning May 16 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donors are asked not to donate chocolate or any other food item that can melt.
Contributors should park in the parking lot then go around the back of the church to locate the drop-off bin on the picnic table outside the Fellowship Hall. A volunteer will be inside the Hall if help is needed or questions answered. Masks, gloves and social distancing are essential.
CVUMC is located at 2700 Montrose Ave., in La Crescenta.
Donations of food and checks are also being accepted at the offices of CV Weekly, 3800 La Crescenta Ave. #206 in La Crescenta. Donations can be brought to the office during regular business hours (M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or dropped off after hours.
Vote By Mail Ballots Sent
The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) began mailing 40,904 Vote by Mail (VBM) ballots for the June 2 special elections.
In compliance with the governor’s executive order related to COVID-19, all registered voters eligible to vote in this election have been mailed a VBM ballot.
Voters must return their ballot on or postmarked by Election Day, June 2. No return postage is required.

City Launches Online Book Club for Adults
Glendale Library, Arts & Culture announced the launch of the Glendale Library, Arts & Culture online book club for adults. The book is free to download and there is an unlimited number of copies. In this totally online community, readers can connect with fellow community members through reading and discussing books. Book club participants will read one book every two to three months, so readers will have plenty of time for each book.
The first book club title is “The Burglar” by author Thomas Perry. Future books will include topics related to lifelong learning, social issues, literature, psychology and other user-submitted ideas. Sign-up at http://www.pbc.guru/glendalecalibrary.
Glendale Pride Having Cyber Event
Glendale Pride will keep its May 30 debut date with a cyber celebration and online campaign. The organizers of the inaugural Glendale Pride festival will kick-off the 2020 pride season with a cyber celebration and online campaign.
The weekend of May 30-31, Glendale Pride will host its event, #GlendalePrideBecause, for 48 hours and Instagram will be the stage. Entertainment includes performance, drag, music, comedy, spoken word, or just a bit of shared thoughts, anyone and everyone is invited to post videos, photos, or other media that speaks to the importance of Pride and other LGBTQIA+ events.
