LA County Updates Its Numbers


The Los Angeles County Public Health released its updated COVID-19 numbers on Wednesday, April 22.

There were 66 confirmed new deaths and 1,318 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Los Angeles County. This brings the totals to 729 deaths and 16,435 positive cases reported.

“Of those who died, information about race and ethnicity is available for 646 people (95% of the cases); 37% of deaths occurred among Latinx residents, 27% among white residents, 18% among Asian residents, 15% among African American residents, and 2% among residents identifying with other races,” according to Public Health.

The County is continuing to increase its capacity for testing with nearly 91,000 individuals being tested and results released. Of this number 15% of people tested positive.

Of the total number of positive cases, Glendale reported eight deaths as of April 22. Public Health reported Glendale has 389 cases of COVID-19, Eagle Rock has 68 cases, Sunland has 52 and Tujunga has 42. In the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County Angeles National Forest there is one to four cases and La Crescenta has 13.
