Temperatures dipped below freezing in the foothills of Crescenta Valley this past weekend turning intermittent rain into snow flurries.
Some braved the freezing temperatures and could be found snowboarding down the hilly La Crescenta streets while many instead chose to check out the fluffy white stuff inside their heated homes.
Snow dusted from La Crescenta to Burbank and Universal City. The debate on what to call the “snow” seemed to focus on whether it was snowflakes or pellets of ice rain. For those in La Crescenta there was no doubt: it was snow.
Mountain Avenue Elementary sixth graders could hardly believe their native Southern California eyes.
“It’s snowing!” yelled one of the girls.“Snow is falling from the sky!”
