Falcon Water Polo Club, based in La Crescenta, has qualified three teams for the 2011 U.S. Water Polo Junior Olympics to be held Aug. 4-7 in Irvine.
The FWPC 18 & Under team qualified for the Junior Olympics at the Coastal Zone Qualifications held recently in Pomona.
FWPC placed fifth out of a field of 12 club teams finishing with a 4-1 record, defeating Foothill Black 9-2, L.A. Water Polo White 13-3, Santa Barbara B 6-5 and an upset win over Rose Bowl 9-8 in an overtime shootout. Their only loss was to runnerup Commerce 12-9.
Team members include Crescenta Valley High graduates Dakota Davy Bertram, Shelby Gregg, Adrienne Ingalla, Kim Fraisse; South Pasadena High graduates Lena Hathaway, Tyler Brown, Devin Grab and Rachel Claus; Burroughs graduate Aimee Minsal (Burroughs HS), and current CVHS players Sabrina Hatzer, Nayiri Kechichian, Stefanie Loporchio, Shannon Hovanesian, Elissa Arnold and Katie Benson.
FWPC U16 Blue squad defeated Foothill Black (9-4), Conquerer (16-7), to secure eighth place.
Team members include Maggie Connell, Sabrina Hatzer, Elissa Arnold, Katie Benson, Gabriel Isacson, Ashley Taylor, Lynley Fernandez from Crescenta Valley HS; Grace Algeo, Liza Echeverria, Sabrina Pierce, Sirius Pinget, Carolyn Magistrate and Devin Grab from So. Pasadena HS.
Lastly, the FWPC White team qualified 13th and will participate in the Junior Olympic Challenge event. FWPC White team is composed of Julia Vitagliano from Burbank HS.
Shannon Renn of Rosemont Middle School, Bianca Vera, Savannah Pierce, and CV High players Natalie Krebsbach, MacKenzie Duke, Eliza Arslanian, Yoselin Galdamez, Jesse Gabor, Kimberly Chernich, Any Aghakhanian, Caitlin Connell, Molly Bertram, and Isabelle Seeto.
