Verdugo Hills Women’s Chorus (VHWC), a member of the California Women’s Chorus, Inc. (CWC), is looking for women who enjoy singing and are ready to meet and make some new friends and bring joy to others through music. One bonus – there are no auditions!

The 35-member chorus will meet for its annual summer fun rehearsal on Monday, Aug. 26 at the La Crescenta Presbyterian Church, 2902 Montrose Ave. in La Crescenta. Any woman, even those who haven’t sung since high school, are invited to join in the festivities beginning with refreshments at 9:30 a.m. From 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the music will be varied and the group will start to “Sing! Sing! Sing!” Music packets will be prepared in advance for those who are interested in joining; please contact Ki Park at (818) 720-6465 or Sharon Schlarb at (626) 403-5622 so sheet music will be available.

Those who attend the summer rehearsal will be greeted by the “friendliest group in town.” VHWC members have one thing in common: they love to sing. This is what draws them to weekly rehearsals, sometimes memorizing words and music and eventually performing. Regular rehearsals will begin on Sept. 9 and continue through June 2020.

Director Park, having recently completed her first year conducting the chorus, is busy choosing music for the coming year. She is a very energetic young woman whose talents are many. She teaches as she conducts and singers have reaped the benefits of her instruction.  As Park said when she accepted the role of director, her goal was “to help members bring out their best singing in ensemble and to create harmony to touch the hearts of themselves and others.”

For over 60 years, VHWC has entertained in the foothills as well as surrounding communities Pasadena, Eagle Rock and Glendale. Performances are generally scheduled on Monday afternoons with a few exceptions. Performances may be booked by contacting Arlene Massimino (818) 624-1111.
