The Falcons have risen to every challenge the schedule has thrown at them and Tuesday was no different as CV posted a 14-4 win over Hoover. The Falcons remained strong after defeating Burbank, 13-5, in their only series last week.

They improved to 8-1 with five coming within the Pacific League.

In singles, Emily Borkowski and Karen Ataian demolished their opposition. They would have both posted impeccable records except that Borkowski lost one game in her three matches overall.

Coach Sarah Wiggins substituted her usual No. 3 player Jackie Dilanchyan for Alice Nam.

The Falcons first two players provided such a big lead that Nam played only one of her three matches. She won that match 7-5 over Erlinda Manvelyan of the Tornados.

Alexa Gregorian played the other two matches, losing her first 5-7 to Moira Salazar, Hoover’s No. 1 player, but coming back to win 6-0 after facing their substitute Diane Han.

In doubles, the Falcons were almost as dominant as in singles, losing only three matches.

CV’s No. 1 duo of Viktoriya Shumakova and Dilanchyan posted a perfect record in all of their matches, losing a total of five games.

Christine Garapetian and Sarah Oh, CV’s No. 2 team, showed their tenacity overcoming a 5-1 deficit to win 7-5.

Wiggins continued with her substitutions.

The number first team again replaced the second as they posted a 6-0 win over Annie Lee and Karmela Castro.

The duo of Amanda Lockwood and Sydney Farzadkish relegated their other two matches to Selin Auvzarian and Amanda DeLeon.

The Tornados dropped to 2-4 in the Pacific division as they were coming off a 17-1 win over Pasadena high school.

“We were outmatched,” said Tornados coach Julie Hoppe.

She added that the only positive her team can take is that they learn from the oppositions’ strategies to implement in future matches.

This week’s match against Flintridge High School was cancelled due to rain. Future contests have also been cancelled until further notice.
