The Crescenta Sports Association 10U tournament team made an outstanding showing in the La Cañada Summer Smash Tournament at the end of June winning three games before dropping in the championship contest 6-4 to Toluca Lake.

The team opened the tournament by crushing Westlake 15-2. Later the squad mercied Palisades 17-2 in a quarter-final contest. That set the stage for a battle against cross town rival La Cañada in the semi-finals.

With a championship birth on the line, the Falcons again prevailed, this time by a score of 12-2.

Pitchers Trevor Beer, Connor Thomas, Grady Schilling, Trey Ballard and Andrew Tinoco set the tone in the wins, allowing six runs in the 14 innings. Outfielders Jack Doloszycki, Joseph Reyes, Nicholas Masumoto and Michael Doud tracked down fly balls all weekend long, ensuring their team would stay in command.

Behind the solid receiving of catchers Drew Atherton, Doud, and Schilling, the pitching staff was in good hands.

Offensively, lead-off man Ballard combined with Reece Proctor to set the table throughout the tournament, reaching base for the big RBI hitters Tinoco, Will Smiley and Doud.

Coached by John Doloszycki, Paul Schilling, Darrin Beer and Jim Smiley, the team has a record of 9-4-1. They head to San Diego July 9 for the California State Games, a statewide amateur sports festival that is a grass roots program of the United States Olympic Committee.
