CSA opening day on March 3 began with a well-matched contest between two solid Mustang teams (9- and 10-year-old boys). This was a pitching battle as both teams depended on more than two pitchers to hold them strong. In the end, IOTEC’s pitchers Tyler Yu and Russell Morrell outlasted Patent Office.com pitchers Tommy Italia, Nathaniel Burke and Elijah Lee.
Going into the fifth inning with a 3-3 score, IOTEC’s Dylan Nunes dug into the batter’s box with bases loaded and two strikes on him. Nunes ripped a triple clearing the bases and opening up the game for IOTEC.
Down 7-3, Patent Office.com came out swinging, scoring six runs and taking the lead in the sixth 9-7.
IOTEC’s Yu walked getting the lead runner on base. Cody Cancelosi doubled putting runners on second and third.
With IOTEC on the attack, the game was called due to time. IOTEC did not get a chance to finish their at bat. The game reverted to the previous inning giving IOTEC the win, 7-3.
The current Mustang standings are: IOTEC (2-0); Jason’s Honda (2-0-1); San Sport Photography (2-1); Patent Office.com (1-1-1); Rountree Glass (1-1); Foothill Advertising (0-2); Lawrence R. Moss (0-3).
