July 10, 1926 – Nov. 27, 2012

Margaret Steinpfad passed away peacefully with her son by her side at her long-time La Crescenta home on Nov 27. It was a blessing that she was able to see her beloved granddaughters, daughter-in-law, and family friends in the days prior.

Margaret was born July 10, 1926 in Durango, Colo. to Donald Chaney Coulson and Blanche Farwell. She received a B.A. degree at Oglethorpe University, was an elementary school teacher for the Los Angeles, Calif. and Scottsdale, Ariz. school districts. In recent years, she was a volunteer docent at Descanso Gardens and The Autry National Center. She loved history, museums and the arts, greatly enjoying dinner/theater nights and Rose Parade activities with her close friends. An avid reader with wide and varied interests, she had a special passion for the history of the American West from which her family came.

Margaret had a golden heart – as a teacher, volunteer, continuous contributor to charities, mentor to many – passionately devoted to, and loved by, her friends, family, angelic care givers, and especially her beloved departed husband, Russell Steinpfad Jr.

She was predeceased by first husband Donald A. Denny and is survived by her son Charles “Chuck” Denny; cherished granddaughters Erica Denny and Alexa Denny (for whom she was simply “California Grandma”); daughter-in-law Zee Denny; brother John F. Coulson of Houston; and three step-children.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

Donations to one’s chosen charity in memory of Margaret would be most welcome and appreciated. We love her and will miss her dearly.
