Jack David Wollard

Born in Dowell, Ill. in 1924, Jack was brought to Tujunga the same year. His grandparents, the Wrights, owned a shoe store in Tujunga in the 1920s. His family then moved to Glendale for the schools for all five children – Jack and his siblings Richard, William, Lester and Dorris.

Jack joined the Navy on June 19, 1943. He served as Pharmacist’s Mate Second Class, USNR. During his duties he served in the Asiatic Pacific area and American area and was awarded the Victory Medal World War II. Places he served were USNH NO. 8 Pearl Harbor, T.H. and USS Orvetta (II 157).

Jack worked for the U.S. Post Office, JPL and Applied Research. He also worked for Councilman Howard Finn and Joel Wachs.

He put on the Centennial 1976 in Sunland. He belonged to the Lions Club and was very active in community events.
