June 27, 1923 – July 29, 2013
Amanda Burgess Miller, 90, born June 27, 1923 in Arizona, died peacefully at home on July 29.
Amanda graduated from University High School in West Los Angeles and went on to Metropolitan Business School in Los Angeles. She worked at Douglas Aircraft during WWII. She was married for 63 years to David B. Miller.
Amanda loved to volunteer and did so for eight years at Verdugo Hills Hospital then at Descanso Gardens for 15 years.
Amanda moved to La Crescenta in 1964 to be near her sister Bennie Lorenz and settled in the Pinecrest area. Amanda was a homemaker who raised three sons. She created a beautifully landscaped yard with lots of roses, which she had the ability to bring out the best. Finally becoming a grandmother in 1992, “Nina” was overjoyed. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, sons D. Bruce, Mark B., Scott G. and her twin grandchildren Molly E. Miller and Benjamin W. Miller.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
