On Tuesday at 9:18 p.m. Glendale police officers responded to a robbery at the Unocal 76 gas station located in the 400 block of Colorado Boulevard.
An investigation revealed the suspect entered the store and asked for cigarettes. As the employee retrieved the cigarettes and turned back around, the suspect was allegedly holding a knife and stated something similar to “give me the money.” The victim opened the cash drawer and the suspect removed a portion of the cash. The suspect was unable to remove all of the cash and asked the victim to give him the remainder of the money.
Once the suspect had the money, he concealed the knife and exited the store, walking southbound on Pacific Avenue.
While officers were searching the area, a resident reported a suspicious male in the 300 block of West Elk outside her apartment on the third floor. Officers located and detained a 27-year-old Glendale man.
A search of the man allegedly revealed pills and a hypodermic needle. A metal spoon containing a black tar substance resembling heroin belonging to the suspect was located on the ground next to him. The suspect was positively identified by a witness. The man was placed under arrest and booked for robbery.
On Dec. 17, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed one count of robbery with a knife.
