Suspect Apprehended in Commercial Burglary

A suspect has been taken into custody following a foot pursuit relating to a commercial burglary that occurred in Glendale this morning.

Glendale Police Dept. was investigating a commercial burglary that occurred in the 600 block of N. Pacific Avenue. A perimeter had been set up and the K9 unit was on scene, according to the GPD. Columbus Elementary in the 400 block of W. Milford Street and Glendale Montessori School near the corner of Doran and Columbus streets were locked down due to police activity in the area. GPD was investigating a commercial burglary that occurred in the 600 block of N. Pacific Avenue. A perimeter had been set up and the K9 unit was scene, according to GPD.

“We are on a soft lockdown,” said Kristine Nam, Glendale Unified School District spokeswoman. A soft lockdown means that the police activity is not related to anything that has occurred at the school. Students will stay in classrooms during recess.

Nam said the district is in constant communications with GPD.

“The kids get our early today but we have been told the [police activity] should be done by then,” she said.
