Historical Society Hosting Macha
At the next meeting of the Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley, famous aircraft archaeologist Pat Macha will talk about the search for lost aircraft in local mountains and deserts, and the quest for closure for the families of crash victims.

The society meets on Monday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living, 4845 Dunsmore Ave., La Crescenta at the corner of Dunsmore and Santa Carlotta avenues.

Flu Shots at VHH
Verdugo Hills Hospital (VHH) is offering free flu immunizations to residents 55 years of age and older on Thursday, Nov. 1 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the hospital’s Council Room (located on the fourth floor lobby). Flu shots will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

The flu shots are also available to adults who are under a doctor’s care for long-term health or lung problems; anyone who has been admitted to a hospital within the past year for treatment of kidney disease, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, anemia or severe asthma; and anyone who has a type of cancer of immunological disorder, which lowers the body’s normal resistance to infections.

Caution – People who have a serious allergic reaction to eggs should not be vaccinated because the vaccine is made in eggs.

For more information, call the VHH flu hotline at (818) 949-4003.

The community is encouraged to participate in Foothill Community Clean Up Day on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to noon at Dunsmore Park. This is a free event. For more information or to register, contact Sandra Rodriguez, Glendale Neighborhood Services at (818) 548-2877 or the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce, (818) 248-4957.
