Glendale Assemblyman Paul Krekorian will find himself torn between Sacramento and Los Angeles for three more months as he launches into a runoff for the 2nd Council District seat in L.A.
Krekorian finished first among 10 candidates Tuesday, with 34.7% of the vote.
His opponent will be former film executive Christine Essel, who received 28.3%.
Both candidates came under strong criticism as “carpetbaggers” for moving into the district to run for the seat vacated by Wendy Gruel.
The runoff will be Dec. 8. If Krekorian wins, the governor will call a special election for his Assembly seat.
