Hundreds Without Power, Roads Closed
By Mary O’KEEFE
At about 5:12 p.m. this afternoon, a driver who exited the 210 Freeway at La Crescenta Avenue was traveling northbound when a piece of equipment from a utility pole apparently fell onto the roof of her car. The driver was not injured. The utility pole apparently then snapped and crushed a parked SUV.
According to Southern California Edison spokesman Ben Wong, the pole was an SCE pole. There are currently 250 SCE customers without power. Crews are on scene but it is unknown when power will be restored.
Northbound and southbound lanes of La Crescenta Avenue are closed from Altura to Prospect avenues. All traffic exiting the 210 Freeway at La Crescenta Avenue is being diverted south.
Rosemont Avenue is closed from Evelyn Street to Prospect Avenue.
Traffic lights are working sporadically. The traffic light at Community and Ramsdell is out but a sheriff’s volunteer is on scene directing traffic.
No injuries reported, according to CHP.
