On Tuesday at 1:36 p.m., the Glendale Fire Dept., under the command of Chief Smith, responded to a report of a hiker in need of medical attention within Brand Park located at 1601 W. Mountain St. in the City of Glendale.

Fire and police department personnel, guided by the Glendale Police Dept. helicopter, searched for the hiker. Firefighters hiked about 100 yards up the trail behind the Brand Library and located two hikers in need of assistance. One hiker was able to walk down the trail with aid, while the second hiker was carried down the trail by firefighters.

Glendale Fire Dept. paramedics assessed both hikers at the scene. One hiker was uninjured, while the other hiker was taken to a local hospital for further medical evaluation.

The Glendale Fire Dept. encourages residents to bring water, wear appropriate clothing, and bring a flashlight or headlamp, a light snack and a charged cellphone when hiking. Additionally, persons should always stay on the trails to avoid getting lost.
