Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s detectives are looking for a man who reportedly sexually assaulted a woman while she was walking on Briggs Avenue on Monday early evening.
At 6:05 p.m. on June 14, a 21-year-old woman was walking southbound on Briggs Avenue near Altura Avenue when she sensed someone was walking behind her.
“She turned and the male suspect pulled down the [victim’s] shirt and fondled her,” said Sgt. Ray Harley.
The suspect is described as a 20-to-30-year-old, heavy set, six foot white or Armenian man with dark, short curly hair and unshaven. At the time of the assault he was wearing a maroon polo shirt and blue jeans.
After the assault the suspect ran northbound on Briggs Avenue. The victim called deputies and a search of the area was conducted but the suspect was not found. The investigation is ongoing.
Harley added the victim did everything right including calling the sheriffs right away. The victim was not walking alone at night, but in broad daylight.
“Be aware of your surroundings and whenever possible try to walk with at least one other person,“ he advised. “If you do get confronted, yell and scream to draw attention to themselves.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station at (818) 248-3464.
