of the San Gabriels
The history of local mines will be presented at the next meeting of the Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley on Monday, June 15 at 7 p.m. at the La Crescenta Center for Spiritual Living.
Gold mining has a colorful chapter in the history of the local mountains. Many of those mines still exist, abandoned for decades, still full of rusting machinery and wooden shoring. Crescenta Valley resident Eric Cole has explored many of those mines and will present some of his photos and stories from the abandoned mines of the San Gabriel Mountains at the next meeting of the Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley.
La Crescenta Center for Spiritual Living is located at 4845 Dunsmore Ave. at Santa Carlotta.
