Man Arrested at Galleria

The Glendale Police Dept. has arrested a man inside the Glendale Galleria who allegedly masturbated while staring at three young children, according to a witness.
The investigation began on Tuesday at about noon. A family was eating lunch inside the patio area of the Glendale Galleria McDonald’s when the father reported noticing an adult male who was constantly staring at his three young children, ages 1, 6 and 7 (a boy and two girls). The father noticed the male had his right hand inside his pocket and was allegedly aggressively masturbating while staring at his children. The father yelled at the suspect to leave, which he did. The father then went to look for security. Upon his return, he saw the suspect was back and was still masturbating through his pocket and staring at his children.
Glendale police officers who are assigned to the Galleria mall responded and took the suspect into custody.
The suspect was identified as 48-year-old Khajag Markarian of Burbank. Markarian has two pending cases of sexually battery from 2015; both incidents occurred at the mall and both involved adult female victims. The mall management had banned Markarian from the mall due to the two previous incidents. Markarian was also identified as a suspect in a police flyer in which he was seen at Glendale High School by a parent who observed him masturbating while watching students at the school.
Markarian was arrested for child annoyance and trespassing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Glendale Police Dept. at (818) 548-4911.
