County Announces Road Improvements near Rosemont Middle School
The County of Los Angeles Public Works Dept. announced that work is planned for Rosemont Avenue and Los Amigos Street. Construction includes bulb-outs to calm traffic and reduce the pedestrian crossing distance at the intersection of Rosemont and Los Amigos, relocation of two existing flashing beacons, improvements to sidewalk and construction of new curb and gutter, reconstruction of an existing catch basin and construction of new catch basins.
Work is tentatively scheduled to begin on June 13. Construction duration is approximately six weeks. Access to properties, including Rosemont Middle School, will be maintained during construction, except during short periods when it is impractical to do so.

Animal Tracking at Rosemont Preserve
All are invited from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday for another in the Rosemont Preserve’s series of guided tours. Join wildlife photographer and expert tracker Johanna Turner for a tour through the Preserve. Turner helps the National Park Service track and document mountain lions in the Verdugo Mountains. She and Denis Callet have installed cameras on several AFC properties to document wildlife passage through these natural open spaces.
Learn what to look for when taking a stroll in the wild and the differences between animal tracks.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. in La Crescenta. Bring water, a hat and wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages; no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.

Free Books and Authors Festival
The fifth annual LitFest Pasadena, a free books and authors festival, will be held on Saturday, June 4 in Pasadena’s Playhouse District.
Events begin at 10 a.m. at Vroman’s and continue throughout the day.

Glendale Beautiful Hosting Lunch
Glendale Beautiful invites all to the June luncheon on Tuesday, June 14 starting at 11:30 a.m. It will be held at the Casa Adobe de San Rafael in Glendale. Installation of 2016-17 officers and a presentation titled “How Glendale Saved California and Changed the Nation” will be given by Michael Crosby.
