Over 2300 Glendale Water and Power customers are presently without power.

Crews are responding to reports of power outage from Valihi Way to Dunsmore Avenue.

It appeared a feeder was tripped, said Tom Lorenz, city of Glendale.

The power outage began about 5 p.m. Due to the heat it is common that this is the time power usage increases as people return home from work and turn on the air conditioner. However the official cause of the outage has yet to be determined.

Power is expected to return quickly, Lorenz said.

Now if GWP had the money to upgrade their feeder lines to higher capacities, this would not have happened. The city of Glendale transfers so much money out of GWP for use in the General Fund ( Unity Fest, Cruise Night, Community Development, and such) so now Glendalians must experience power outages during heat waves.
