A gofundme page has been set up for the family of Mark Sanderl. Visit https://www.gofundme.com/sanderlfamily.

Rosemont Middle School Principal Dr. Cynthia Livingston released this statement earlier today:

This is Dr. Livingston with some very sad news. I regret to inform you that our Rosemont family has experienced a loss. One of our teachers, Mr. Mark Sanderl, computer teacher, became ill at school on Friday. He was taken to the hospital, but he succumbed to his illness. I wanted to call to let you know so that you can have a chance to talk to your child tonight. Tomorrow morning, the teachers will talk to students directly about the loss, and counselors will be available throughout the day to provide support. This will be a difficult time for us all, but I believe that we will work together to heal as a family. Thank you so much for your ongoing support of our school and Mr. Sanderl’s family.

My heart broke today when I heard of the passing of Mr. Sanderl. He was without a doubt my favorite teacher and the one person who inspired me most in Rosemont Middle School. When my younger brother was asking what class to take, I immediately responded Mr. Sanderl’s! My lifetime love of compters came from the incredible Mr. Sanderl as his student. He was a teacher who taught from the heart. He made you beleive that you were important and gave you the confidence every day to beleive in yourself. He had this big smile and a positive thought every time you saw him. I truly looked foward to coming to school and walking to his class for lessons as I felt successful and accomplished because of his support and confidence in me. He was a brilliant teacher and I look back in gratitude because he changed me. It’s safe to say Mr. Sanderl was truly an amazing individual. He was more than a teacher, he was a great friend and a wonderful mentor. I am proud to say that my extensive computer knowledge was all thanks to Mr. Sanderl’s passion for teaching. While I mourn the loss of a great man, I feel blessed and honored that he was a part of my life. God Bless you Mr. Sanderl and to his family, I offer my sincere condolences. You will forever be in my younger brothers and my memories. Thank you for being the greatest teacher in our lives! May you rest in paradise and look over us all.
