Scam Stopper Seminar
ASTER, Assemblyman Mike Gatto, and the contractors state license board is holding a free senior scam stopper seminar on April 18 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the YMCA of the Foothills.
Seniors will learn how to protect themselves from fraud from a panel of experts relating to home repair, finances, identity theft, Medicare and more. Seniors, their families and caregivers are welcome to attend. Parking and parking lot shuttle assistance will be provided to help those with difficulty walking.

Land Use Meeting
At the next Crescenta Valley Town Council Land Use Meeting, L.A. County Planning is scheduled to present information on the R1-single family building code and possible changes.
The meeting is tonight, Thursday April 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library.
Three years of R1 surveys have come to an end and now L.A. County Planning will respond to the results. Community concerns will be addressed with regard to non-conforming homes.
Questions from the audience will be taken.

Arbor Day Celebration Planned
The Crescenta Valley Town Council will be hosting its annual Arbor Day celebration on Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m. to noon at Two-Strike Park. The theme this year is “The Great Outdoors,” celebrating the improvements seen in local parks over the last year including the dog park, new hiking trails, new playground equipment and two new mini-parks.

Friends of the Rosemont Preserve Plan Meeting
The Friends of the Rosemont Preserve next meet on Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Native plant expert Roger Klemm will lead volunteers in a session on identifying and removing tree tobacco to allow further room for the native growth to become reestablished. Participants should wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Those who have loppers or a tree handsaw, please bring them along. The preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park.
We will also be hosting a booth at the Crescenta Valley Arbor Day celebration at Two Strike Park from 10 a.m. to noon. Please pay us a visit to learn about exciting docent led tours, educational opportunities and other events in the works.
Both events are free to the public, all ages, no reservations required.
Relay for Life News
The annual Foothills Relay for Life rummage sale is on April 20 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at J’s Maintenance parking lot (3550 Foothill Blvd. at Dunsmore Avenue). This is a fundraiser for the 24-hour Relay for Life event that benefits the American Cancer Society and takes place on May 11-May 12.
Paint the Town Purple and mini-luminaria ceremony is Saturday, April 27. Paint the Town Purple begins at 8 a.m. at the former site of Rocky Cola and the mini luminaria ceremony is at 7 p.m. in front of the Vietnam War memorial.
The public is encouraged to support these events.
Dodgers Tickets Benefit Fund
Tickets are still available for the inaugural Dodger Night Fundraiser benefiting the Mary Pinola/CV Chamber Education Fund on Monday, April 29. Tickets are for the area above the press box, behind home plate. They regularly sell for $22, but the Fund is selling them for $20 and proceeds benefit the Education Fund.
